Kalyoncu's essays cover a wide variety of issues from the so-called Armenian genocide resolution, to the transformation of Turkish politics, and from the ups and downs in the Turkish-Israeli relations to the looming threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program. Moreover, the book tackles the issue of Islamophobia and the rise of xenophobic political ideologies in Europe and the United States. In this vein, the book takes a critical look at the role of the various international actors in countering Islamophobia and the reactions they have received in the West, especially in the United States. All in all, the book does intend to take stock of the past seven years in terms of the political and social developments that has made Turkey, Turkish-American-Israeli relations and the Middle East, what they are today.
